June 16th 2012 - London
Course: Take Better Travel Photos (Travellers' Tales)
The course will take you through the basic fundamentals of travel
photography, from taking control of your camera to a solid foundation in
getting your exposures spot-on and seeing powerful compositions.
You will discover some easy to remember methods for making sure you get travel photos to be proud of, learn some foolproof ways to approach people on your travels for portrait pictures, and find out how to see powerful landscape photos within a grand vista.
Weather permitting, the course allows time for an informal shoot. It also offers detailed and supportive feedback on your work, which you are encouraged to bring along for comment. The course is run in conjunction with Take Better Travel Photos magazine, and the other tutors will be Dan Linstead, editor of Wanderlust magazine, and travel photographer Julian Love.

Course: Make The Most Of Digital Photography (Travellers' Tales)
The course is designed to help you to develop confidence in enhancing
and printing your photos, as well as giving you great insights into how
to turn your holiday photos into stunning photo books and calendars.
The course will cover the best options for photography software currently on the market (including some that are free of charge), give you an introduction to the fundamentals of enhancing your images, offer an overview of the amazing ways you can now share your images with friends and family, including on sites such as Facebook and Flickr, and advice on how to start your own photography blog or website.

The course introduces and develops the creative and technical skills
that will help you to take exceptional photos that capture the essence
of the people, cities and festivals that you encounter on your travels.
From nailing your compositions and exposures, to using ambient light and

essential techniques for making the most of your travel photography.
Weather permitting, the day includes a mentored shoot in the heart of London. It also offers detailed and supportive feedback on your work, which you are encouraged to bring along for comment. Guest tutor for this course is one of the world's leading travel photographers and author of several bestselling photography technique books, Michael Freeman.

Course: Shooting For Publication (Travellers' Tales)
This is the course you need to get your work out there - whether in
travel magazines, via stock libraries, or by creating your own photo
books and online galleries.
It introduces you to the world of shooting travel photographs for
publication and looks in depth at everything you need to succeed.
The day offers the inside track on how the market works and how to approach editors and buyers. There is a demonstration of how to build individual images into a photo-story or personal project, advice on how to place your work with magazines and photo libraries, and insight into how to create your own online gallery.
Weather permitting, the course includes a mentored shoot that focuses on preparing a set of images that editors could buy. It also offers detailed and supportive feedback on your work, which you are encouraged to bring along for comment. Guest tutor for this course is seasoned travel photograpehr, Doug MacKinlay.
